Just wanted to put down in pixals my list of features that I would like to see -- priortized imho.

Many of these ideas I took from other post, especially this one started by UD

- Usual bug and cheat fixes
- Player-locked icon in Player-menu
- Message-hotkeys to assign a key (F1 etc) to a customizable text to allies/near/all players
- Shareware/Donation paid icon in wbn (maybe Player-menu also)
- Ignore-player option for message-bar
- Player-is-quitting text before quit message, to distinqish net splits ("fi is quitting. fi has quit")
- Fix of pill/tank being "physically solid around the edges" as documented by Kax in the linked post above.

Server additions:
- Random-map option selected from map filename text file
- Restart-on-win option
- Quit-on-leave option if 1 pill has been taken and all players leave game
- Admin-password option and admin-listening-port option for: Lock, Unlock, Quit & Message-to-players

Client skins:
- Changing message-bar repositioning and integration into map window
- Changing and repositing client modules (message bar, lgm functions, health)
- Changing game colors (Neutral pills blue or enemy lgm red - lrm's?)

- Client port to Mac OS X
- Unix (free-bsd) self-contained port of server only - worth it?

and the wacky idea for the day:
- SVG Winbolo! (Scalable Vector Graphics using XML) - no more 2x and 4x only! (and yes it's only for the web, but lets think outside the box)

thank you for putting in my idea for enemy lgm's red, i preciate it!

the next version of bolo's gonna be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! Very Happy

btw, has anyone started making a bolo viewer?

how bout' the option to turn features like that off! Btw, about the red LGM's, well, that would take some of the fun away from winbolo coz' its funny as hell when u see some enemy shoot the allies bilder!!!

It would be. My thought was to make it a skin, that could be used or not used, so its optional. And many of these ideas would take a lot of work, so don't expect ALL of these tomorrow. In fact, Elvis could think all of these are ideas on crack and ignore them, they are just my thoughts.

Thats a good idea, and Ive heard that Elvis got LinBolo to compile on it, but hopefully this would still be compatable for older versions of the Mac OS. I havent used a Mac since OS 8, so I have no idea whats what with it anymore.

Edit: I've never heard of Elvis compiling LinBolo on the Macintosh, I have no idea why this post of mine was originally created.

umm......does "client port to mac os" or w/e mean that we'll be able to play against ppl on macs? and also, i recall that in macbolo you can change the viwe so you can see the entire map...(i THINK, IM NOT ENTIRELY SURE, BUT IM PRETTY SURE.) so this will have to be integrated before a bolo viwer is made so the viewer isn't used for cheating. Sad

And to take something from SJ's spawner:

Server additions:
- Random-map option pulled from maplist (like a playlist - text file with map filenames in it) so it would be possible to have multiple maplists for different types of games.

But if you don't want to click to the page, here is the updated info:

Fixes & Changes
- Prevent speed bug cheat.
- Fix lgm-radar error - if far enough away from landed lgm, your radar points into mine field (maybe radar sees map as sphere?).
- Enemy boats don't temporarly disappear when shot at sea.
- Fix of pill/tank being "physically solid around the edges" (as documented by Kax in the linked post above).
- Ignore pending message-bar messages.
- Player-locked icon in Player-menu.
- Game locked shows on tracker and wbn.
- Ignore-player option for message-bar.
- Increase tree growth rate to match bolo (wbn post).
- Pill firing range to match bolo (move in 1 square).

Additions
- Message-hotkeys to assign a key (F1 etc) to a customizable text to allies/near/all players (borg option in short-term).
- Shareware paid icon in wbn (may be hard to see how few pay but encouraging payment is a good thing).
- Player-is-quitting text before quit message, to distinqish net splits ("fi is quitting. fi has quit")
Server additions:
- Autospawn map option.
- Random-map option from text map file.
- Restart-on-win option (same map).
- Quit-on-leave option if 1 pill has been taken and all players leave game.
- Admin-password option and admin-listening-port option for: Lock, Unlock, - Quit & Message-to-players - used remotely.
- Kicking and baning of players/ports remotly.
Client skins:
- Changing message-bar repositioning and removal from map window
- Changing and repositing client modules (message bar, lgm function buttons, map, health)
- Client port to Mac OS X

Wacky ideas
- SVG Winbolo! (Scalable Vector Graphics using XML) - no more 2x and 4x only! (and yes it's only for the web, but lets think outside the box)
- Server modules/expansion packs - ability to customize various elements for special mod games (and shown as such on tracker/wbn).
Examples: crazy-fast tree growth; mine-less; always-angry pills; ice terran; speed bolo. (and yes, there will always be "classic" bolo for those who don't want to see changes).
