Well, about six monthes ago, maybe more I started making posts about who the community thought was the best player etc etc. I think a lot of people at the time thought it was sev. Now, some people didn't agree so I came up with the idea of running a tournament to determine who it was. Sev ended up winning, with Saiyan being the runner-up. So now I'm curious if the community is ready for another tournament. I believe the last tourney was the only tourney to ever determine a winner. I must admit, mistakes were made that caused friction and I was warned before hand that something might go wrong, but it was my own doing to a certain extent. Anyway, I think from what I learned last time I can make the tourney better. All the rules would be almost the same. I think the window of playing time would need to be extended because that's how I got in trouble the first time, forfeiting a player. Well, lets see what type of responses I get and the interest level to see if I should even consider doing it all again. I know I know, I said I wouldn't run another tourney but it's summer and I have a lot of free time.
btw, if you don't know I am Skywalker
uhh, the ibl was successful .. and had a "winner" as far as I know .... silly skywalker

Ummm. I thought most people entered that tourny of yours 6 months ago to have fun and try to get as far as they could, knowing they could never make it to number 1.
If you truly wanted to try to determine number 1 you'd just need to take about 5 players and have them compete intensely against each other for about 1-2 weeks, playing 10-15 maps multiple times. Then you'd have someone who can truly claim to be number 1 in all variety of styles and maps when it comes to 1x1 games.
Instead, your tourney is more like the Olympics games - not necessarly the best overall person wins that single competition to carry the Gold medal, it's just who was the most outstanding during that momenent.
I'm not saying that's bad, just noting the difference :)
It SHOULD be open, otherwise ppl like me will not give a shit.
I would be glad to help with the next tourny if it's decided that we are going to have another. :)
I would like to see best of 5 for semi-finals as well as finals.
I dont think I'm gonna do it. Change of heart. Sorry, my bad :(
Heh I dunno about your philosophising Mad Scout.
I think the fact they only schedule one superbowl game makes it a lot more appealing to viewers, because the underdog team has a lot more chance in winning 1 game out of 1 then in winning 3 games out of 5.
So, if I was to run a tourny, I'd make it just 1 game only. That'd make it a lot more fun for the spectators (those watching the results) and for the participants (at least for the underdog - it would put more pressure on the one who is supposed to win to do it right the first time).
Anyway, a tourney where you have to win 3 out of 5 games is gonna be boring to follow - as the results would be pretty much pre-determined.
Just my two cents.
How bout this... you have everyone compete against everyone head to head, 1 game, on a predetermined map like CT3 as a qualifying stage. Then the top 16 people based upon W-L records after the qualifying stage is complete must move into a tournament bracket. The bracket is seeded by the win-loss records such that the top seeded players, should they continue their success, will meet in the later rounds a la NCAA.
That way people should get knocked out by Sev at the appropriate stage in the bracket such that their overall end ranking matches their efforts rather than their luck of the draw as in the last tourney, and it should setup a fantastic showdown in the finale where I return from my semi-sabbatical to whup Sev's wheatgrass nibblin butt as payback for my early departure from the last tournament. GRRRRRR.
