Comment:
Here are several maps I created of various styles and intents. Most have even
been tested in play! There are three styles of maps here.

? Mini-settings have all the bases and pillboxes in tight quarters.
? Realist maps based on the surface of the Earth - USA and World
? PICT conversions - can vary widely depending on the PICT.

The only maps previously released are the USA and World maps. I added deep sea
to them and havent really played them since, so let me know how it goes. In
fact, let me know if you like or dislike any of these - some people hate the
small worlds.

I play in tournament mode generally. Some of the maps require at least
tournament mode since not bases are otherwise available.

Thanks to BoloStar and Bolotomy for making several of these maps easy to build.
Thanks to Stuart Cheshire, of course, for a neat program to run the maps in.

---------------------------
In alphabetical order:

Boloing - A bolling alley where the pins are pillboxes and bases. There are six
extra bases that are mostly a diversion because the real game is to take all the
pins. Question is where do you take them?

Cherl - From the PICT. Naturally scenic setting with hot spots in the right
places.

Chess Mess - A chess board where the pieces are bases and pillboxes initially
owned by the first two players. I tried to constrain play to the board itself
but I dont consider it against the rules to do whatever Bolo allows.

Core Technology - A cross section of a globe with a hollow center and orbiting
satellites. There is a strong incentive to control the center, but it is
dangerous.

Cubes - From the PICT. This has an interesting mix of geometric shapes and
textures with bases and pillboxes at focal points.

Four Square - A small map with lots of conflict. Named after the game played
with a ball bounced between four squares by four players.

FractalStein - From the PICT. This is moderately large, enough to get lost in
the twisted passageways of the Mandelbrot set. Most bases are free, if you can
find them.

Island Hopping - A random map with deep sea between islands, but shallow enough
between many to build bridges.

Piers - A standard size map with mostly boats, water, and long strips of land.
In older versions of Bolo, the boats were a barrier as well, but most of the play
still occurs in boats, the main design objective.

Pit - Somewhat like hell-hole but surrounded by water, a ring of road, and then
deep sea. There is less direct conflict and more manipulation of pillboxes to
gain the advantage.

Quadrille - A small map with lots of interaction in four squares placed just far
enough apart to provide some measily security to whoever can control them.
Notice the imbalance in the tree growing algorithm, with Bolo .99 anyway.

Rect - A standard sized map of nested rectangles. All bases are embedded deep in
wall which effectively slows down initial base grabbing. The center is difficult
to get to and difficult to control, but whoever does so will probably win.

USA - My first Bolo map, this standard sized map is based, of course, on the US
brutally excluding Canada and most of Mexico. Bases are at major metropolitan
areas with the East coast somewhat reduced and a few smaller centers, like
Denver, enhanced to balance things out a little. We played this quite a bit, and
Texas seems to be a make or break territory. Holding on to or taking the
West-of-the-Rockies is difficult because of limited resources and rough terrain,
but that can be a selling point.

World - This is a standard sized World map with bases at population centers like
the US. Again, I moved some bases out of the Orient, which has an absurdly high
density, and added them to places like South America to increase its value. We
played this map quite a bit also and it was a favorite maybe because of its
familiarity. For some reason Africa tends to get chopped in two.
