The Central Campus maps are based on the layout of the Central
Washington University building and road structures at CWU in Ellensburg,
Washington. The school is set in a plain surrounded by low hills.
Winters are cold and white, while summers are hot and windy. The
northern edge of the Campus map is bounded by 18th Street, the western
edge by D Street, the southern edge by 8th Avenue, and the eastern edge
by Alder Street. The islands are additions to the map, but are not
actually part of the CWU campus. Nearly all building on campus are
included on the Campus map.
Central Campus 2 is the author's favorite for 2-3 players or computer
opponents. It has been played extensively using Bolo 0.997 against the
Standard Autopilot and Maxwell 1.4 computer Brains. Central Campus 3 is
a slight modification to the Campus 2 map, with the additions of another
island in the southeast corner, one more base, two more pillboxes, and
some movements of bases, pillboxes, and foliage.
The above maps were created with BoloMapEditor and BoloStar 1.5. The
maps are also included in this archive as PICTs for thumbnail reference
or printing. The PICTs were created by saving a screen shot from
BoloStar 1.5 with pillbox range turned on, then cropped and converted
with GraphicConverter 2.7 to PICT format. PICTs are viewable using
SimpleText or most graphic programs.
The author would like to thank Tom Barrett and Keith Fry for their
BoloMapEditor and BoloStar 1.5. He would also like to thank Stuart
Chesire for his great network game Bolo.
