Bolo Map Descriptions
---------------------

o Biola University 2
This is a scanned replica of Biola University in La Mirada, CA. This map is 50% smaller
than larger Biola Bolo Map (which is posted on Sumex). The larger Biola is only good for
on campus play; the smaller version is better for Internet. The buildings on the map may
appear too blocky until you realize that each building and road is where it would appear
in real life. Although it is more blocky, it makes for a more realistic effect.
Different terrain is used to create varying textures found on the campus. I tried to
strike a balance between what the university actually looks like and how it would feel to
drive a 2 ton tank across our campus.

o Disneyland
Disneyland uses the same terrain and placement effects that Biola 2 to create the map.
Shot buildings are used in structures as outlines to show how the buildings look from a
overhead view. People who live in the area can still distinguish structures of the park
even though it is a Bolo map. The key is included for those players who have never been
to Disneyland or haven't been in a while. Use a map editor to see additional stuff that
you won't see when you're playing. PLEASE: Have fun destroying "It's a Small World",
that's why I put it there.

o Flynn's Castles
This Bolo map is called "Flynn's Castles" to distinquish it from the totally seperate
"Castle" Bolo map of a different creator. This is a bigger map that is better suited for
a large number of players. Some of the castles in this map are the same layouts of actual
castles in Ireland. The map is different because the bases come in pairs of twos, which
are also surrounded by the walls of the castle. The pillboxes are nicely guarded by both
the walls and the bases: remember, you can't shoot through an enemy base and hit the
pillbox. Also remember that when you're blocking in your opponet's castle, he may be
  blocking in yours as well.

o King of the Mountain
This is a capture the pillbox map that is best played as open game with a time limit.
The object of the game is to get and keep the pillbox. The one with it at the end wins.
Get three or more players together for really intense battle. I have found two
strategies to use this map: plant the pillbox in the center and defend it, or plant it on
one of the side forrests, hide, and after the opponets come to try to destroy your
  pillbox rebuild it.

o Myst Island
I helped co-design this map with Chris Wilson (Hobbes). The shape of the map is taken
directly from the game Myst when it shows a picture of the island that you are on. The
Bolo map is enhanced with lots of terrain and a few more smaller islands. There are a lot
of interesting things happening on this map.

o Postage Stamp 2
This map is taken directly from a picture of the 1928 inverted biplane postage stamp,
fighting on this map is fierce due to the large number of bases and pills on s 60 x 70
playing field. The entire outside of the map is road, which make the tempo of the map go
much faster. After you understand what the stamp looks like, it is easy to know which
pill is being attacked from the pillbox view.

About the designer:
-------------------
Graham Best is a graduating computer science major from Biola University, whose major
excuse for avoid homework is Cross-Stitching... NO! it's BOLO! I actually prefer
designing the Bolo maps and watching others play rather than playing the game myself.
Hence, the handle I picked for myself: Flynn (the video game designer in Tron). Someday
I hope to design video games, but for now I'll be working at Intel...

And if you're from Disney and you're going to sue me for copyright infringement,
All simularities between the Disneyland Bolo map and Disneyland, Co. are purely
  coincidental. (Yeah, right...)

Flynn's Castles
---------------

This Bolo map is called "Flynn's Castles" to distinquish it from the totally
seperate "Castle" Bolo map of a different creator. Some of the castles in this
map are the same layouts of actual castles in Ireland. The map is different
because the bases come in pairs of twos, which are also surrounded by the walls
of the castle. The pillboxes are nicely guarded by both the walls and the bases:
remember, you can't shoot through an enemy base and hit the pillbox. Even though
there are more bases than pills in this game, it still poses a challenge; if
there were any more pill boxes, the game might be impossible. Also remember that
when you're blocking in your opponet's castle, he may be blocking in yours as
well.
